The former rue des Rosiers was the scene of the execution of Generals Lecomte and Clement Thomas March 18, 1871. General Lecomte was the 88th Chief of the list. As he could not stop the revolutionary movement with his troops, he was arrested. General Clement Thomas meanwhile, was a former commander of the National Guard in 1848 and 1870. He was charged with the death of several National Guard in case Montretout. The two generals were publicly shot rue des Rosiers by the Federated City.
