History and visit the Marmottan-Monet Museum in Paris
The Musée Marmottan-Monet is located in Paris 2 rue Louis-Boilly. It occupies the former property of the collector and art historian Paul Marmottan, in the district of Ranelagh. Inaugurated in 1934, the Museum of Fine Arts contains many collections dating from the Renaissance and the Napoleonic era. He received many donations which largely collections of Impressionist Claude Monet. You can see many objects of art, antique furniture, watercolors, pastels, drawings ... The site attracts many visitors each year. It is served by line 9 metro station La Muette.
 
Historically, this great museum was originally a hunting lodge that belonged to the Duke of Valmy, Christophe Edmond Kellermann. Jules Marmottan bought it and became its owner in 1882. Later, his son, Paul Marmottan transformed the pavilion mansion and made it his home. He enlarged the building to house his art at the time of the First Empire as well as his father's collections of works.
 
In 1932, Paul Marmottan donated the entire collection, a library and a mansion of the nineteenth century at the Academy of Fine Arts. The hotel was converted into a museum two years later and exhibited collections of father and son Marmottan, consisting of paintings by great artists, tapestries, sculptures, furniture and objets d'art representative of the art of First Empire ...
 
From its inauguration in 1934, chained to the donations to the museum collection as Victorine Donop Monchy in 1957, consisting of several Impressionist works by Monet, Renoir, Pissarro ... In 1966, the museum received the collection of paintings by Michel Monet, son of the famous painter Claude Monet and his house in Giverny. It was displayed in a special room designed by Jacques Carlu, architect and curator. In 1980, the museum dedicated to Georges Wildenstein room for its illuminations collection of different European schools such as paintings by Jean Fouquet, Sano di Pietro ... Seven Years Later, Nelly Duhem enriches the museum's art inherited from her parents, Henry and Mary Sergeant Duhem collection of works. In 1996, the museum was among the collections of the great works of Edouard Manet, Henri Rouart, Berthe Morisot ... a contribution from the Foundation Denis and Annie Rouart. Many other bequests came garnish the museum's collection. Include among others the collections of the Florence Gould Foundation, those Cila Dreyfus, Henri Le Riche, Emile Bastien Lepage ...
 
The Marmottan-Monet Museum houses one of the most important Impressionist collections in the capital. It sets out a hundred works by Claude Monet Water Lilies such as the roses went to Giverny, more than eighty works of Berthe Morisot and many Impressionist paintings of great artists. The ground floor is adorned with magnificent tapestries and various furniture empire. Impressionist works are exhibited in the basement and first floor. The museum management has been taken by a member of the Academy of Fine Arts. Patrick de Carolis currently performs this function.
The museum has recently paid tribute to one of the most famous women painters of the twentieth century, Marie Laurencin. For four months, he has exposed more than ninety works of this great portrait. Much of these works was provided by a Japanese museum.
