History and visit the Museum of Fashion and Textiles in Paris

The city of Paris is filled with many historical monuments, one of them being the Museum of Fashion and Textile. It was opened in 1905 and since that date, it contains more than 80,000 valuable items within its walls. The museum attracts alone more than 280,000 visitors from around the world every year. It is located in the 1st district, 107 rue de Rivoli.

As its name suggests, the museum was dedicated to the exhibition of all the works of art related to textiles. Until today, you will discover all a couture collection and haute couture all unique in their genre and are not likely to see elsewhere. Indeed, there are different fashions of the European population since the fourteenth century to the present day. However, the museum is not open at all times, because after time passed, the collection clothes were becoming increasingly fragile: inadequate temperature or other climatic factors could cause their destruction. But at shows, all collections are exhibited by period and theme and renewal takes place every six months. All textile items that are exposed to come from different sources, in fact, most of them come from donors or private collectors.

The writer François Boucher, author of'' History'' costumes had developed an idea or he was referring to the construction of a museum where it would expose textile objects. Thus in 1948, the French Union or UFCA Costume Arts was established and it was this organization that carried out the implementation of the project. At that time, it was the famous conservative Deslandres Yvonne who was in charge of monitoring the collection. A few years later, UFCA was leading textile collectors worldwide. After the merger of the two organizations and UFCA UCDA or Central Union of Decorative Arts in 1981, the project of establishing the Museum of Arts of Fashion was finally born. However, the merger did not involve a dependency between the two. In 1986, the project was finally realized and the museum was installed in the Pavilion Marsan in the Louvre.

The museum covers an area of 9000 square meters since its renovation in 1997. There are nearly 16,000 different outfits, some of which date back several centuries ago. It also finds nearly 35,000 objects used fashion accessories ranging from the smallest to the largest. And there are also nearly 30,000 textile pieces such as lace, tapestries, embroideries, silks and more. Currently, the top designers from around the world were also able to showcase their finest collections in this museum. Indeed, the work of designers Christian Dior, Yves Saint-Laurent, Channel ... have become collections of the Museum of Fashion and Textiles in Paris. In the museum, you can discover all the publications that talk about the world of textiles. These documents are as important as the collections. Visiting this museum is now a choice to make, because all objects in it are all unique in the world and worth the detour.
