Prison de l'Abbaye is a state prison built by French Gamard in 1631 at the same place or was the temple dedicated to Isis or Ceres according to legend. It dated from the early days of the old city of Paris and later took the name of the Abbey of Saint-Germain-des-Prés. At the beginning of the French Revolution in 1792, a large number of prisoners were massacred and tortured in unimaginable conditions.
