History of the town of Macon in Burgundy
Macon is a French commune, part of the department of Saône-et-Loire in the Burgundy region. It is the capital of Macon and the fifth largest city in Burgundy. During the first and second century, the city was known under the name Matisco. Then the death of Louis XI, patent approve privileges of Macon and Macon account. In 1790, the department of Saône-et-Loire was totally rehabilitated from the effects left by the floods of 1602 and Macome was appointed as chief town. It was conquered by the Austrian army in 1814 and was released during the Second World War. In 1974, the Europe Prize has been awarded by the Council of Europe.
