Transfer to the Museum of Modern Art of the City of Paris

 

The Modern Art of the City of Paris Museum is located on Avenue du Président Wilson in the 16th arrondissement. It is located in the east wing of the Palais de Tokyo in the French capital. The opening of the museum was made twice: in 1937 and in 1961, the management of the museum is provided by the public administrative Paris Museum since January 1, 2013. It sets and maintains collections in modern art and contemporary art.
The Museum of Modern Art of the City of Paris is hosted by the Palais de Tokyo. This building is the work of Dastugue, Dondel, Viard and Aubert. It was built for the International Exhibition of Art and Technology in 1937. The architectural style of the building adopts an art deco style. The exhibition made in 1937 has enabled the museum to get some collections such as Dance Henri Matisse, Pierre Bonnard garden, portraits done by artist Edouard Vuillard and Pierre Chareau furniture. The official opening of the museum was completed in 1961. The first museum collections come from the collections of the palace obtained from collectors like Mathilde Amos Ambrose and Emmanuelle Sarmiento. The museum houses the exhibition of young painters from 1954 to 1969 and from 1972 to 1975. Following the renovation, the museum is inaugurated on 6 July 1961. IT and exhibited works from the Petit Palais and the collections of Dr. Girardin and purchases of the buying commission of Fine Arts.
The Museum of Modern Art of the City of Paris has undergone several series of works. Work was undertaken by Pierre and Michel faucheux Jausserand between January 1971 and May 1972. Rearrangements have been made in the ground floor. A mezzanine used for the documentation center and offices, an auditorium, a lift were introduced. Mobile museum equipped with ceilings and walls adaptable is added to the museum. After twenty years, work has been undertaken again. This work consisted of setting up a system of air conditioning and make available temporary exhibition rooms for the disabled. The exhibition of the museum’s history has been committed to public awareness of the career of this exceptional place. The architecture studio channel was hired by the city of Paris in 2000 for security work. Dufy the room was cleared of the asbestos in 2002. Thus, the new redevelopment has been undertaken by the architect Jean-François Bodin. The basement of the museum has been renovated to make room video distribution, but also to set up the room Boltanski. The museum is attached with three other museums in May 2009 to set up the “Hill of museums.”
The Museum of Modern Art of the City of Paris has a rich permanent collection. It has no less than 8,000 works affecting currents of 20th century art. Among the artists include Pablo Picasso, Giorgio de Chirico, Maurice Utrillo, Pierre Soulages and Alberto Giacometti. The museum has experienced an event of burglary that led to the estimated 100 million loss in 2010.
