Extending over 118 ha and located in the Val-de-Marne department in the Île-de-France region, Gentilly is a town known for its economic dynamism. At the crossroads of two departments and bordering the capital, it is divided into seven districts.
History of Gentilly
Gentilly can be one of your transit cities if you are in the Ile-de-France region. Cited for the first time in the 6th century as royal property, the name Gentilly did not appear until the 13th century. Thus, during the Middle Ages, it was shown that the territory was divided between several abbeys and a seigniory by changing owners often. Most of the city's monuments were built between the 13th and 15th centuries. This is the case for the Bicêtre church and hospice and the nursing home. Supplying water to the left bank of Paris, the famous Médicis aqueduct was built in the 17th century. The construction of infrastructures and the creation of various industries developed considerably during the 19th century. Vegetable cultivation appeared in Gentilly in 1868. This means that until today the town of Gentilly is still known for planning, town planning, economic development and the environment. If you want to tour the city, we provide professionally trained drivers.

Private van service from Maison Doisneau to Roissy Airport
If you are passing through the region, we advise you - before your airport transfers - to take a tour of Maison Doisneau. Paying homage to Robert Doisneau, Maison Doisneau is a place for temporary exhibitions inside and outside the walls. Therefore, it is not its initial mission to conserve collections. Built by the Jesuits in the second half of the 18th century, it was inaugurated in April 1996. But it was a hotel for renting furnished rooms in the 20th century. The building fell into disrepair and the municipality of Gentilly bought it in April 1985. It was in 1992, during the 80th birthday of Robert Doisneau that the town decided to make it a place dedicated to photography and began the works. A place to discover and share the photographic culture, it offers guided tours, workshops and educational activities accessible to a wide audience. Each year, it presents four monographic or thematic exhibitions made from historical collections, works by contemporary authors, archives of professional and amateur photographers. You even have the possibility of enjoying photography at school, the educational experience or even the exhibition made by children. Visits and offers are specially reserved for the disabled. Maison Doisneau opens its doors from Wednesday to Sunday between 1.30 p.m. and 6.30 p.m. Note also that entry is free for everyone. If necessary, for your trips, we can provide you with a vehicle that can accommodate 8 people.
