The Paris-Charles de Gaulle airport is located twenty-three miles from Paris. Operation is provided by Aéroports de Paris. Noting the rapid growth of air travel, the government began in 1962 to identify large areas of land that could accommodate new airport infrastructure to the saturation announced at Paris-Orly and Paris-Le Bourget. The airport will occupy an area of 2915 ha. The first terminal called Terminal 1 was built in the image of an octopus. The construction of 2D hall, lobby 2C the first part of terminal 2E accompany the development of Air France.
Terminal 2 is currently composed of six terminals 2A, 2C, 2E located south and 2B, 2D, 2F located north, separated by a highway. Terminal 2G is entered service on 3 September 2008. This terminal is dedicated to regional airlines. The third terminal was named Terminal 3. it is designed to accommodate domestic flights and low cost airlines

The South Terminal welcomes 6 million passengers in 1965 and 9,000,000 in 1969. In 1966 is was inaugurated a new round of tower control Orly still in service today. Then Orly airport while lack of space to expand, its layout area is already highly urbanized, and limited available land has to face while the saturation of Orly, Roissy Charles Gaule entered in service from 1974.
In the 1990’s marked a turning point for the Orly airport. CDG airport becomes “leader” of long-courrier flights. Orly activity gradually shrinks in favor of CDG which hosts more passengers.
Paris Orly then change lens and becomes an airport turned to domestic destinations, the Maghreb and the DOM-TOM leaving CDG has many long-courrier flights and a large part of the freight business.
During the 2000s, major renovation of terminals at Orly in its tracks and its tarmac are made. The hall of Terminal 2 West is also renovated in 2006.
