The Palace of the Museum of Louvre was conceived in origin as a fortress in XIIth century under the reign of Philippe II. The ruins of this fortress are still visible today. The building was extended again and again in the course of the centuries until it attains its actual form, the Palace of Louvre. In 1674, the residence of the French kings was moved in Versailles; therefore the Palace of Louvre remained the main place where the royal collections were displayed. During French Revolution, it is decided that Louvre can become a museum and gather the most precious masterpieces of the French people.

During its opening, on August 10th, 1793, the museum introduced a collection of 537 pictures, the most part are the works confiscated from the Church and the French monarchy. During Napoleon's reign, the collection of the museum developed very much and the name also changed - the Napoleon Museum. After the defeat of Napoleon, numerous works were confiscated and restored to their owners. But the collection of the museum continued augmenting, under the Second Empire earned more than 20.000 pieces. The number of works of art belonging to the Museum of Louvre continued augmenting regularly.

Since 2008, the collection of the Museum of Louvre is divided into eight distinct categories: ancient Egypt, antiques of Middle East, Greece, Etrusques and Romans, Islamic art, sculpture, decorative arts, painting, drawings and engravings.

It receives more than 380.000 objects of museum and 35.000 works of art nowadays. More than 60.000 square feet are dedicated to permanent exhibitions.

The art collection is constituted of more than 6.000 paintings dating from the XIIIth century and until 1848. In Louvre is Joconde, masterpiece of Leonard de Vinci, among many other works of art of an invaluable value.

The Garden of Tuileries is located near the Palace of Louvre. Palace of Tuileries was burned and has never been rebuilt, but its gardens were renovated. When weather is nice, they are really spectacular and deserve a visit.

The Mont Saint Michel is a French commune located in the department of La Manche and  the Basse-région of Normandy which takes its name from a rocky island dedicated to St. Michel where now stands the abbey of Mont Saint-Michel. Mont Saint-Michel is a rocky tidal island. It is located approximately one kilometer, just over half a mile off the country's north-western coast, at the mouth of the Couesnon River near Avranches. The island has been a strategic point holding fortifications since ancient times, and since the 8th century AD it became the seat of the Saint-Michel monastery, from which it draws the name.

Mont-Saint-Michel was used in the 6th and 7th centuries as an Armorica stronghold of Romano-Breton culture and power, until it was ransacked by the Franks, thus ending the trans-channel culture that had stood since the departure of the Romans in AD 460.

Before the construction of the first monastic establishment in the 8th century, the island was called "monte tombe". According to legend, the Archangel Michel appeared to St. Aubert, bishop of Avranches, in 708 and instructed him to build a church on the rocky islet. Aubert repeatedly ignored the angel's instruction, until Michel burned a hole in the bishop's skull with his finger. A statue of St. Michel placed at the top of the abbey church culminates with 170meters above the shore. Major element, the abbey and its dependencies are classified as historical monuments.

This term comes from the popular Latin campania, which designated a landscape of open fields. It is a doublet of "campaign"-shaped normanno Picardy. Champagne is first a region with very particular floor : chalk gives its flavors to champagne.

The Champagne province is located near the northern limits of the wine world along the 49th parallel.

The Champagne wine region is a historic province within the Champagne administrative province in the northeast of France. The area is best known for the production of the sparkling white wine that bears the region's name. EU law and the laws of most countries reserve the term "Champagne" exclusively for wines that come from this region located about 100 miles (160 km) east of Paris. The viticultural boundaries of Champagne are legally defined and split into five wine producing districts within the administrative province: Aube, Côte des Blancs, Côte de Sézanne, Montagne de Reims, and Vallée de la Marne. The towns of Reims and Épernay are the commercial centers of the area.

Located at the northern edges of the wine growing world, the history of the Champagne wine region has had a significant role in the development of this unique terroir. The area's proximity to Paris promoted the region's economic success in its wine trade but also put the villages and vineyards in the path of marching armies on their way to the French capital. Pinot Meunier is the dominant grape in the la Marne region Valley.

Many museums recall the hours that have large pages of the history of France and Europe, or invite you to discover the skills that permeate his identity or individuals who have courted.

Invasions, cultural trends, trade ... it has kept the best of all these influences.

The name of the region comes from the Burgundians, an ancient Germanic people who settled in the area during the early Middle Ages. The region of Burgundy is both larger than the old Duchy of Burgundy and smaller than the area ruled by the Dukes of Burgundy, from the modern Netherlands to the border of Auvergne.

Burgundy is a historic region in Western Europe that has existed as a political entity in a number of forms with very different boundaries. Two of these entities - the first around the 6th century, the second around the 11th century - have been called the Kingdom of Burgundy; a third was very nearly created — as was more than one noble state of Burgundy — including a County and Duchy, almost all of them being influential and fairly wealthy. In the last stages of the later house of Burgundy, Burgundy had became one of the most influential and powerful states in Europe and a great prize as a Duchy, with possessions obtained by marriage and inheritance extending from and encompassing the Netherlands (then including modern Belgium), and extensive lands from Lorraine and encompassing the entire surrounds of the valley of the Rhone River, nearly to the Rhine abutting western Switzerland extending down the Rhone Valley to the Mediterranean coast. The area correlates with today's border regions between France, Italy and Switzerland, in other words a country-sized region roughly centered on Lyons or Geneva.

Burgundy is renowned worldwide for its vineyards, including the Côte de Nuits,Côte de Beaune, the Chalonnaise, the Mâconnais, Beaujolais and Chablis

The Loire Valley spanning 280 kilometers is located in the middle stretch of the Loire River in central France. Its area comprises approximately 800 square kilometers. It is referred to as the Cradle of the French Language, and the Garden of France due to the abundance of vineyards, fruit orchards (such as cherries), and artichoke and asparagus fields, which line the banks of the river. Notable for its historic towns, architecture and wines, the valley has been inhabited since the Middle Paleolithic period.

The architectural heritage in the valley's historic towns is notable, especially its Castle, such as the most visited among many others : Château de Chenonceau, Château de Chambord, Château d'Amboise, Château d’Azay-le-Rideau, Château de Blois , Château de Villandry, Château de Langeais, Château de Chaumont-sur-Loire, Château d'Ussé, Château de Chinon. The castle, numbering more than three hundred, represent a nation of builders starting with the necessary castle fortifications in the 10th century to the splendor of those built half a millennium later. When the French kings began constructing their huge castle here, the nobility, not wanting or even daring to be far from the seat of power, followed suit. Their presence in the lush, fertile valley began attracting the very best landscape designers. In addition to its many castles, the cultural monuments illustrate to an exceptional degree the ideals of the Renaissance and the Age of the Enlightenment on western European thought and design.
