The Petit Montrouge belongs in the 14th arrondissement of Paris city. This is the 55th administrative district of the French capital. It covers an area of 1,346 square kilometers. There were 37 000 people in about 1999. The name of this district was given in reference to the town of Montrouge which it is attached until 1860. It is known as the Alesia neighborhood because of the street which crosses Alesia and the Alesia Metro.
The Petit Montrouge is bordered on the south by Romain Rolland Boulevard, north of the Boulevard Saint-Jacques and Rue Daguerre, to the east by the Rue de la Tombe-Issoire and west by Avenue Porte de Chatillon, the rue Gassendi and Rue des Plantes. It is located between the districts of Montparnasse, the Parc de Montsouris, Piacenza and common Montrouge. It is situated on a plain.
The creation of the district of Petit Montrouge was made the same year as the creation of the 14th arrondissement. It was created in 1860 and joined the city of Paris. The center of this area is marked by Victor Basch and Hélène-up. It is served by a large number of streets. The urbanization of the area work was done after 1840. It is divided into areas which a part is composed of a collective housing and by another private habitats. Renovations were made to the area in the 21st century.
