History of Castle Jossigny
Jossigny Castle was built in 1753 in honor of Claude Francois Leconte Gravel, an adviser to the Fifth Chamber of the Parliament of Paris investigations. It was built by architect Jacques Hardouin-Mansart de Sagonne, the last of the illustrious line of Mansart. In the Middle Ages, the land belonged to Jossigny Cyprian Freil, bourgeois Lagny-sur-Marne. On November 4, 1359, he sold the land to Peter Orgemont, advisor to the king. The family kept Orgemont Jossigny until its sale on June 25, 1574, to Robert Jacques, citizens of Paris. The Castle has subsequently been in the possession of the Robert family until 1975. Towards the end of the sixteenth century, he entered the family Bragelongue by the marriage of the daughter of Jacques Robert, Robert Beard of Bragelongue with Jacques, a counselor of the king and master of his ordinary chamber accounts. In the early eighteenth century, the Château de Jossigny is in the hands of a more modest family, Leconte of Gravel. Thanks to the alliance with Francesca Bragelongue Augustin Leconte. The latter was the lord of Gravel and adviser to the king in the court of aids which took place February 27, 1704. The castle has been renovated since the seventeenth century. On the death of Claude-François September 15, 1787, the castle was handed over to his eldest son Claude Eleanor.
