History and visit the Latin Quarter in Paris
The Latin Quarter is located on the left bank of the Seine in the French capital. It is divided between the 5th and the 6th arrondissement. The Sorbonne is the historical background of the area. The name of this district was given in reference universities and schools of the Middle Ages used the Latin language in education. It is one of the most famous of the city of Paris.

It also has high schools and colleges as legendary and distinguished colleges of France and Stanislas, colleges of Fenelon, Henri IV, Lavoisier, Montaigne, Louis the Great and Saint Louis. Sainte-Geneviève library is located in a building built in 1851 in the district. This building is the work of architect Henri Labrouste is classified as a historical monument.
The Latin Quarter also contains several historical sites and points of interest. The famous Parisian monument: the Pantheon is located in the middle of this area. This building is open to the public and managed by the Center for National Monuments. There is also the palace of Luxembourg, the Luxembourg gardens and the Museum of Luxembourg. Hotel Coins and Hôtel de Cluny currently houses the National Museum of the Middle Ages are placed in this beautiful neighborhood. The magnificent church of Val de Grace is built in a classic French Baroque style is localized in the Latin Quarter. This area also contains Roman ruins, including the Arena of Lutèce and the Roman baths. The arena Lutetia is an amphitheater built in the 1st century. It was used for games like gladiatorial combats while the baths were a place of public baths during the period of ancient Rome. It also has entertainment places like Latin paradise, the Odeon Theatre, and the vault of the Huchette.
Religious institutions also take place in the old quarter. There are seven churches, including the Church of St. Etienne du Mont, the Saint-Sulpice church, the church of St. Severin church Saint Nicolas du Chardonnet and the church of Saint Julien le Pauvre. The chapel of the Sorbonne and the Franciscan monastery are located in this district. The shrine of Our Lady of Lebanon is in the area. It consists of a chapel surmounted by a huge statue of Our Lady of Lebanon measuring 8.7 meters in height.
