History of the town of Laon in Picardy
Is the prefecture of the department of Aisne, Laon is a city in France which is located in the Picardy region. Starting with the end of the eleventh century, it faces a very remarkable progress. In 1128, a municipal charter was granted by King Louis VI Big Laon and obtains the right to be independent with its own laws. After the movements and difficult period during the Hundred Years War, the city finally wins his dignity during the French Revolution and became the head of the department of Aisne.
