The Gare Montparnasse is one of the largest train stations in Paris . It is located at 17 boulevard de Vaugirard , straddling the 14th and 15th arrondissements . The West Station was the name given to the first station Montparnasse. It was built in place of the current tour Montparnasse in 1840. It belonged to the Company of the West. Occupying the same location , the new station was built by architect Victor Benoit Lenoir, under the direction of engineer Eugene Flachat . The station no longer met the needs of traffic. It was demolished and replaced in the 1960s by the construction of the Tour Montparnasse . A third station, which is the current Montparnasse station was built a few hundred meters from the Boulevard du Montparnasse during those years . Montparnasse train station is the result of the work of five architects , including Urbain Cassan , Eugène Beaudouin , Raymond Lopez, and Louis Jean Saubot Hoym Marien .

Gare Montparnasse also contains beautiful places worth visiting. On the roof, you can see a landscaped garden that is the Atlantic .
